“In the past several years, the citizen’s of our Town of Frankton have expressed interest in trying to encourage local business, offer more support to our local food programs, offer more educational resources to our youth, and improve our town’s foot traffic in our downtown area. Frankton Heritage Days heard these requests and saw this as an opportunity to further our organization’s purpose, “to promote and improve the local festival and encourage community service.” and also help satisfy many of our town’s needs.
Our organization decided to take-on these requests and in 2019 we formed our Frankton Town Market. With the cooperation of the Frankton Community Library we have been able to host our farmers’ market on their parking lot on Sunday afternoons (2-5pm) throughout the Summer and Fall months.
Frankton Town Market accepts local vendors of all kinds who’s focus is to sell “Homegrown. Homemade.” produce and products. We also encourage local not-for-profits, educational programs and advocacy groups to join us throughout our season. One of our most successful projects in our first year was the “Lettuce Change” program. In collaboration with Madison County Purdue Extension we were able to collect “change” and purchase over 300 lbs. of fresh produce from our vendors; which we then donated to the Frankton Community Food Pantry. We really pride ourselves in bringing different organizations together and working as one cohesive team.
